.ambar files
Export, import and what to know before sharing.
.ambar files are exported copies. They do not sync automatically.
What is a .ambar file?
A .ambar file is an export — a snapshot of your health data at the moment you exported. Useful for backup, device transfer or one-time sharing with someone you trust.
Snapshot, not sync
Once exported, the file does not update on its own. If data changes in the app, the old file still reflects the export date. For always up-to-date data between people, use Care Circle.
Care Circle keeps data updated between authorized people.
Share carefully
.ambar files may contain sensitive data: symptoms, exams, documents and notes. Share only with people you trust over secure channels.
How to export
- Open Ambar on your iPhone.
- Go to export options in settings or profile.
- Choose export as .ambar file.
- Save or send via Files, AirDrop, etc.
How to import
- Receive the .ambar file (AirDrop, email or Files).
- Open with Ambar or use import in the app.
- Review what will be added before confirming.
Request a newer version
If someone shared a .ambar with you and data is outdated, ask for a new export or invite them to Care Circle for ongoing sync.
