Frequently asked questions
Clear answers about what Ambar does — and what it does not.
About Ambar
What is Ambar?
Ambar is a personal health folder for iPhone. It helps you organize symptoms, exams, appointments, documents, treatments, and other important information to bring to your next visit.
Does Ambar replace a doctor?
No. Ambar is a personal organization tool. It does not replace evaluation, diagnosis, or care by healthcare professionals.
Does Ambar provide a diagnosis?
No. Ambar does not diagnose health conditions. It only helps you record and organize information that you or your healthcare provider consider relevant.
Does Ambar recommend treatment?
No. Ambar does not prescribe, recommend, or change treatments. Treatment decisions should be made with qualified healthcare professionals.
Who is Ambar useful for?
For people who want to keep an organized health history — appointments, symptoms, exams, and treatments — privately on their own iPhone, with the option to sync via iCloud and share with caregivers when desired.
Data & privacy
Where is my data stored?
By default, your data stays on your iPhone. If you enable iCloud, a copy may be synced to your Apple account via CloudKit. Ambar does not maintain a central server with your health data.
Does Ambar use a server?
The app is local-first. This website (webambar.app) is documentation and support only — it does not store your health data. Features that relied on a server in the previous version have been discontinued.
Does Ambar sell my data?
No. Ambar does not sell health data or use your records for advertising.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can delete records in the app or remove the app from your iPhone. If you used iCloud, you may need to clear data in your Apple account according to system options.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Ambar lets you export your information as a .ambar file, which is a snapshot of your data at that moment.
What is a .ambar file?
It is an export file — a copy of your data at a specific point in time. It does not sync automatically; for always up-to-date data between people, use Care Circle.
Does a .ambar file update automatically?
No. .ambar files are static snapshots. If you need more recent data, request a new export or use Care Circle.
iCloud
Do I need to enable iCloud to use Ambar?
No. Ambar works locally on iPhone without iCloud. iCloud sync is optional.
Is iCloud enabled by default?
It depends on your preferences and app settings. You control whether you want to use iCloud sync.
What is synced?
When enabled, Ambar data in your iCloud account may be synced across Apple devices signed into the same account, via CloudKit.
Why can sync take a while?
iCloud syncs in the background. A slow network, many documents, or the device in low power mode can delay updates. Data is saved locally first.
What should I do if something does not appear on another device?
Check that you are on the same Apple account, that iCloud is active, that you have a stable connection, and wait a few minutes. See the guide at /suporte/icloud for more details.
Apple Health
Does Ambar use the Health app?
Ambar can integrate with the Health app (HealthKit) when you explicitly grant permission in iOS settings.
Does Ambar access my data automatically?
No. Access to the Health app is controlled by you in iOS permissions. Ambar only reads categories you authorize.
Does Ambar see my Health app sharing?
Not automatically. Sharing done in the Health app (Apple Health Sharing) is separate from Ambar and Care Circle.
Is Apple Health Sharing the same as Care Circle?
No. They are different systems. The Health app and Ambar have separate sharing. Care Circle is a feature of Ambar itself.
Care Circle
What is Care Circle?
It is Ambar’s way of keeping health data up to date between authorized people — for example, a family member who helps with care.
How do I share a profile?
Invite trusted people through the Care Circle flow in the app. They need to accept the invitation and have Ambar installed.
Does sharing a subscription share data?
No. Sharing a Family subscription via Apple does not share your health data. They are independent.
What is a caregiver-managed profile?
It is a health profile that another authorized person can help maintain — for example, for a child or family member.
What does an unverified profile mean?
It indicates that the person’s identity has not been verified by Ambar. Creating a folder about someone does not prove identity or make you their legal representative.
Plans
What is free?
The Free plan includes essential organization features. Updated details appear in the app.
What is included in Plus?
Plus unlocks additional organization and productivity features. See the subscription screen in the app for the current list.
What is included in Family?
The Family plan can be shared via Apple Family Sharing. This shares the subscription, not health data.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep access to data already saved on the device. Paid-plan-only features will no longer be available according to subscription rules.
Do my data disappear if I cancel?
No. Your records remain on your iPhone. Essential export remains available.
How do I restore purchases?
In the app, use Restore Purchases in subscription settings. You must be signed in with the same Apple ID used for the purchase.
Support
How do I get help?
Visit /suporte/contato or email suporte@webambar.app. Also see the FAQ and guides at /suporte.
What information should I send?
App version, iPhone model, iOS version, and a clear description of the issue. Screenshots without sensitive data help.
What data should I not send by email?
Avoid sending exams, tax ID numbers, identity documents, or detailed clinical information by email unless it is truly necessary and you are comfortable doing so.
